SUMMARY:Folk Singer: Ray Kamalay
DESCRIPTION:Folk singer\, Ray Kamalay\, will be performing Monday\, February 19\, at 2:00pm in the Ormond Beach Library Auditorium.  Kamalay has a repertoire that includes Delta blues\, Bach\, and a variety of music from around the world. \nHis amazing voice and wry humor are matched by his fine mastery of the guitar.  But Ray doesn’t leave it at that.   Besides the occasional joke (all “family” material\, of course)\, Ray often tells the stories of the songs themselves\, drawing the audience closer.  All of which exposes not only his fine talent\, but his great love of the music itself. \nKamalay is a Detroit native\, who has been a professional musician since 1974. He has performed at some of the most prestigious venues including the Edinburgh Festival\, Interlochen\, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival. \nThe program is presented by the Friends of the Ormond Beach Library and is free of charge and open to all.

SUMMARY:Labyrinth Walk
DESCRIPTION:Labyrinths have been a symbol of transformation for thousands of years. In it’s simplest form\, the labyrinth is a single path of concentric circles\, leading to a center point. Unlike a maze\, the labyrinth has no dead ends\, so can be used as a walking meditation to quiet the mind or reflect on a question\, letting the body take over the walking journey. Please join us for this opportunity to walk the museum’s garden labyrinth with certified labyrinth facilitator\, Karen Duffy\, and meet Joan Baliker\, the artist who created the labyrinth. After the walk please enjoy the museum’s current exhibit\, “Mandalas: 4 Artists Enter the Circle”. The walk is free\, but please register in advance.

SUMMARY:Assisted Living\,The Musical
DESCRIPTION:Assisted Living\, The Musical comes to Ormond Beach where it is performed by its authors Compton & Bennett . The show benefits the Council On Aging of Volusia County and its Meals On Wheels program. The show\, subtitled “How the Older Half Lives” delivers laughs from the opening scene. Romp through the “best years of their lives” at Pelican Roost\, an active senior living community. The place oozes with characters\, each with unique answers to later-life’s questions. “It’s like a cruise” explains Pelican Roost resident Naomi Lipshitz-Yamamoto-Murphy\, “except the final destination is not The Bahamas.” Naomi is one of 18-characters played by the two actors. This is not your grandma’s assisted living. Songs include “Help! I’ve Fallen (For You) and I Can’t Get Up”\, “WalkerDude@Facebook.com” and “The Uplifting Viagra Medley.” Residents are advised\, “It’s ok to get close\, but don’t get something gross.” Do not miss this show! Get your tickets early! These shows will sell out!

SUMMARY:Kavi - Loot My Body
DESCRIPTION:Mixed media works on aluminum by artist Karishma Naran.  Opening reception March 3\, 6 pm – 8 pm \nKarishma Naran is an experimental artist working with innovative new methods in photo collage\, painting\, and sculpture. Her work emphasizes intense texture by incorporating three-dimensional objects into two-dimensional spaces\, contemporary mounting methods\, and concentrated layering often resulting in a sleek-high gloss finish. \nHer freshest series –Loot My Body– creates a distorted view of a familiar piece of ourselves\, yet goes past abstraction by mixing symbolic and physical objects. \nOutside of her artistic laboratory Karishma is active in interior design for homes and commercial spaces. See more of her work on her website. \nhttp://iamkavi.com/
