The first annual Ormond-Daytona Beach Automobile Races were held just south of what is now the Granada Boulevard beach ramp.  A one-mile course was laid out headed south\, and the meet began with the first official automobile racing event ever held on the beach. \nThe Ormond Beach Historical Society is honored to preserve and present this legacy in a temporary exhibit highlighting the activities of the “1st Speed Week.”  The exhibit includes black and white photographs and artifacts from the first race(s). \nVisitor Information: \nAdmission: Free and open to the public. \nMuseum Hours: Tuesday–Saturday\, 10:00-3:00 pm. \nThis exhibition was made possible through support from: The County of Volusia\, The State of Florida\, Dan Smith and Diana Simmons

DESCRIPTION:This is a collection of a new body of work by professional artist and DSC instructor\, Stacey Fletcher Art examining personal perception & narrative… \n” Uprooted; a word embedded with displacement\, discomfort\, and often destroying familiarities. This exhibition addresses major shifts in a journey\, making connections to concepts and discoveries of ones “self”. The works evolved from an evolution of symbolic metaphors\, an obsession to make marks\, and to document memories & experiences. \nThis exhibition was created with a deconstructive process in mind. One of critical analysis of language that emphasizes the relationship to meaning and forms of expression. Often viewers create assumptions implicit in forms of expression\, but I ask the audience to appreciate the seductive materials and process\, more so than to try and read into the works. For me\, the works are a narrative\, a means of communication\, a page in ones story of life.
