SUMMARY:A Journey to the Sea
DESCRIPTION:Oil painter\, Stephen Estrada captures the power and fragility of the natural sea.  He equates his large-scale work with “stepping into liquid” and calls his work a “travelogue of the sea”. \n“Many of my paintings depict the waters and landscape of the East and West coast\, the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. The latter paintings reflect the powerful effects of Hurricane Katrina where my daughters and I went for years to help rebuild houses after the storm.  They are reminders to me of our place in nature\, its beauty and its power to change our lives in an instant. \nThe Latitude 37 Series is a exploration of exact points along the 37th parallel across America from the Pacific shore to coastal Virginia. The painting from the farthest point west depicts Pillar Point at Half Moon Bay in California. The sister painting from furthest east is of the tidal marshes near Wachapreague\, VA.” \nThe museum\, at 78 E. Granada Blvd.\, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily except holidays.  Weekend hours are noon to 4 p.m.   The luxurious gardens featuring architectural tributes to war veterans are open each day until dusk.\n For further information about the exhibit\, call the museum at 386 676-3347. DESCRIPTION:The Ormond Beach Historical Society is excited to present: Florida Stories- Ormond Beach as the newest tour offering for the Florida Humanities Council’s audio walking tour series. This fun event is the free launch party for the Ormond tour!  Please join us at 4pm at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens\, located at 78 East Granada Boulevard for a short talk about the app and its development\, refreshments\, and a ceremonial download—then explore the sites and history of historic Ormond! \nDeveloped with a generous grant from the Florida Humanities Council (FHC)\, the Florida Stories Walking Tour of Ormond Beach is a free application designed to be downloaded to a smart phone or tablet.
